Dearest beloved members and friends,

Thank you for a wonderful week. This year’s Campoverde Hallowe’en

And if you missed Anish bobbing for apples, you will want to see the
photos, believe us.

Last night’s sold out wine tasting was an old world and new world
pleasure, and a gastronomic delight. Many thanks to Jonothan le
merveilleux for the beautiful wines and to Alonso el maravilloso for
the fantastic food pairing!

As many of you know our shining heart, TobyAnne, is down with a killer
flu. She will not be in the club this week and we send her healing
thoughts and wishes for a speedy recovery.

Here is what is in store for your social calendar at Campoverde this
week:

Tonight, Saturday 7 November: Get yourselves out of the rain and into
your favourite social lounge to spend time with friends.

Remembrance Day. Please do participate in an event that pays hommage
to those valiant men and women who gave their lives so we could live
this extraordinary one.

Thursday, 12 November: Come by the club with a can, bottle or box of
something delicious as Campoverde will be sponsoring a family over the
holidays and this evening will be the launch of the collection for
their Christmas feast.

Friday, 13 November: Friday the 13th. Need we say more? Chris will be
telling scary stories.

Saturday, 14 November: Suzanne B. hosts a dance party at Campoverde.
Live jazz is on the agenda. Music lovers, this is for you!

September 26 Newsletter: The Joys of Autumn

September 26th, 2009

Happy Fall, all!

This is without a doubt my favourite time of year. There is something
so wonderful about the Autumn. Many members I have spoken to recently
have been moving, renovating, organizing and beautifying their
homes… I, too, have been clearing the way for the upcoming holidays.
Testing out the fireplace, anticipating mulled wine and pumpkin pie,
thinking about Hallowe’en costumes and little excited
trick-or-treaters, rearranging my livingroom, taking photos of the
changing leaves… So come down to Campo to celebrate the new season
with us!

A big thank you to James Dean and his Trio who graced our space with
their wonderful music last week! It was a fantastic evening with so
many friendly faces. The rumours are true, James is great!

Here’s what Campo has planned for your Social Life this week:

Tonight, Saturday September 26

Ned Boyden Blues. Ned Boyden performs his melodic and lyrically
compelling blues tinged original songs for us this evening. Ned has
been influenced by the likes of Jim Valance, Wayland Holyfield and
Professor Longhair and worked with Bill Burns who produced hits such
as The Guess Who’s “Shakin’ All Over”. Come join us for a bite and
some great live music! Doors and kitchen open at 7pm, Ned takes the
keys at 8pm.

Tuesday, September 29

Wired Woman’s Mentorship Workshop - Meet Your Match. Campo members
are invited to visit the Wired Woman’s group for their mentorship
workshop. This is an interactive workshop for both prospective mentors
and mentees for their 2009-2010 program intake. The talk will last
roughly one hour, between 6 and 7pm.

Wired Women’s mission is to create an environment that encourages
women to explore opportunities in technology, science and new media
and to build successful careers that will allow them to become a
driving force in these expanding sectors. Doors open at 6pm, kitchen
opens at 7pm.

Wednesday, September 30

Book Club: Little Bee by Chris Cleave. Join us for our monthly Book
Club evening! Come on by for a lively discussion of Little Bee. Doors
and kitchen open at 7pm.

Thursday, October 1 to Saturday, October 3

Doors and kitchen open at 7pm.

We are gearing up for some great events in October! Thanksgiving
Dinner on the 10th will be a seasonal feast! Alonso is baking a Turkey
with all the trimmings, and we will be sure to have vegetarian items
for you as well. Full menu and RSVP/ticket details will be posted
soon.

Among other things, we’re having a Salsa Class on the 9th, a soldier
coming to speak with us on the 14th, an Art Show Opening on the 16th,
a Cask Beer Tasting on the 17th, The James Dean Trio on the 24th, and
who can forget our Hallowe’en bash on the 31st - which falls on a
Saturday this year!

September 19 Newsletter: Good Ambience, Good Times!

September 19th, 2009

There are so many exciting things going on at your social club these
days! Our new Bar Manager, Chris, is fitting in very well and has
introduced some fantastic new labels to our wine selection. If you
have not yet met our hilariously entertaining host, come on down and
familiarize yourself with his quick Irish wit. He is quickly making
himself indispensable around here with his great ideas for Campo!

We have rearranged the room a little; our dear Anita found us a
beautiful new carpet, and some bits and bobs have been added to
freshen the space. We created a charming little nook for three in the
back across from the dining table. The Campo staff are excited and
motivated to give you a beautiful lounge, and will be adding to the
environment as time goes on. As the holidays approach, we are so
looking forward to creating some truly memorable events for all of us
to enjoy in our communal living room!

**Big news!** Rachel Greenfeld has achieved the nomination to
represent Vancouver Centre for the Conservative Party. If you wish to
be involved with her political endeavors, please let us know and we
will put you in touch. We would like to extend our sincere
congratulations to the founder of Campoverde for achieving this
amazing accomplishment!

So here’s what Campoverde has going on this week:

Tonight, Saturday, September 19

The James Dean Trio Jazz It Up. James is back from his world tour and
ready to kick it at Campo! James plays the sax as though he was born
with it in hand. Gary Keenan joins him on piano and Joe Bourchier on
bass. This is always an awesome night and you won’t want to miss it!
Guests are a mere $10. Doors and kitchen open at 7pm. Music starts at
9pm.

Tuesday, September 22

Evening for Salomon Rayek. We welcome you to join us in support of
Salomon Rayek running for the Conservative Party in the
Vancouver-Kingsway riding. Doors and kitchen open at 7pm.

Wednesday, September 23

Sending Love to our Troops in Afghanistan. Tonight we will be
collecting care package items to send to our Canadian Troops in
Afghanistan to acknowledge the sacrifices they are making. Permitted
items for donation include music CD’s, movies on DVD, local
newspapers, Tim Horton’s coupons, letters addressed “Dear Soldier”,
with your return email address if you wish, as they do have some
computer access and like to respond. Please do not include perishable
food, liquor, toiletries, clothing, anything breakable or that may
melt or freeze, etc. These items may wait a long time at checkpoints
and be unpacked and repacked several times. So come and join the
community as we thank our fellow Canadians. Doors and kitchen open at
7pm.

Thursday, September 24

Doors and kitchen open at 7pm.

Friday, September 25

Doors and kitchen open at 7pm.

Saturday, September 26

Sending Love to our Troops in Afghanistan

September 16th, 2009

Dearest Campoverde friends and members,

Conversation around the community has made us aware that our troops
overseas, in their efforts to maintain peace in Afghanistan, are
feeling somewhat unsupported by the rest of us back here at home, and
especially those of us in Vancouver. As you know, Campoverde stands
for community building. We would like to invite you to join us in
showing some gratitude to our men and women fighting to uphold the
Canadian values that we hold dear. You are invited to drop by
Campoverde on Wednesday, 23 September, anytime after 7pm, to donate an
item or two to a care package that we will send over to our Canadian
troops in Afghanistan.

Items that are permitted: music CD’s, movie DVD’s, local newspapers,
letters addressed “Dear Soldier,” including your email address as they
do have some computer access and like to respond, Tim Hortons Coupons,
dry/cured foods.

Please do not include: perishable food, liquor, toiletries, clothing,
anything at all breakable or that may melt/freeze/etc. These items may
wait a long time at checkpoints, and be unpacked and repacked several
times.

Thank you for being a part of our community. We are proud to be
Canadian.
